Get the right match for your drivetrain
A matching speed count is only a starting point. Shifter cable pull, drivetrain family, cassette size, chain capacity, mounting type and cage length all affect compatibility. Electronic derailleurs also need the correct battery and control system.
For front derailleurs, bring details of the chainrings, mounting arrangement and cable routing. For rear derailleurs, John can check the hanger and drivetrain before recommending a replacement. A bent hanger, worn chain or damaged cable can also cause poor shifting.
